Voluntary commitment
Accessibility
Boardgames.io voluntarily works towards an accessible playing experience. We use WCAG 2.2 Level AA as guidance, not as a claim of certification or full conformity.
Current status
Our internal review indicates that the site partially meets this voluntary target. No independent accessibility audit has been completed.
Keyboard access
Navigation, forms, and board fields use keyboard controls and visible focus states. In Mill and Checkers, select the source and destination with Enter or Space instead of dragging.
Assistive technology
Game fields have text labels, important status changes use live regions, and game state is not intended to rely on colour alone.
Contrast & motion
The light and dark themes use shared contrast tokens. Animations honour the system “reduce motion” setting where motion is not essential.
Known limitations
Screen-reader behaviour and every contrast combination have not been independently audited. Complex board positions and fast live updates may still need improvement.
